What happens to the bill you send, the information we keep and the analytics on this site.
Short version: we use your bill to build your report. We keep the usage and plan facts we need, not a separate copy of your account details. Your original email and bill photo remain in our inbox. We do not sell your information.
1. What you send us
When you email a bill photo to upload@squareswitch.io, it can contain your name, service address, account number, ESI-ID, meter number, provider, plan, prices, contract dates, monthly electricity use, and billed amounts. We also receive your email address and anything else you include in your message.
2. What we use and keep
We use the service address to find plans available at your address. For the report and to check our pricing, we record your ZIP code and utility area; monthly kWh, billed amounts and rate components; and your current plan, contract end date and early-exit fee. We do not copy your account number, ESI-ID, full service address or meter number into those working records. They may still appear in the original email and bill photo in our inbox.
3. Where your bill goes
Email sent to upload@squareswitch.io is forwarded by Cloudflare to a dedicated Square Switch Google inbox. The original email and photo stay there, under Google's storage and security practices. We do not move bill photos to another system to make reports. We have not set a fixed deletion schedule for these emails yet; you can ask us to delete yours.
4. What we do with your information
- Build and send your plan report and answer questions about it.
- Check our pricing against real bills so we can fix mistakes.
- Remind you about a contract end date only if you ask.
We may combine non-identifying usage and savings figures across reports, without publishing individual bills or identifying a customer.
5. Who sees it
We don't sell, rent or trade your information, or share it with electricity providers for marketing. Google runs our email; Cloudflare hosts the site and forwards email. We may disclose information if legally required, limited to what is required. We do not enroll you in a plan or send a provider your bill as part of this beta.
6. Website analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how people use this website, including pages visited, visits and general device and location information. Google Analytics uses browser cookies or similar identifiers and receives technical data such as your IP address and the page URL. We use these reports to improve the site, not to rank plans or build reports about individual customers. Google may handle this data under its own terms for sites that use Google services. You can manage cookies in your browser or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Cloudflare also processes basic technical data to serve and protect the site.
7. How we make money
Reports are free. Square Switch does not earn commissions today. We may later be paid by electricity providers when someone enrolls through us, but that has not started and required broker registration is pending. We will explain any provider payments before they begin. Payment will not determine our ranking.
8. Your choices
Email hello@squareswitch.io to ask what we keep about you or to request deletion of your email, bill photo and working usage data. Reply "stop" to a message from us if you no longer want follow-up emails. We will send contract reminders only if you asked for them.
9. Security, audience and changes
We limit the data we copy into working records, but no online system is perfectly secure. If we discover that your information was exposed, we'll notify you. This service is for adults in Texas areas with retail electricity choice, currently in a small Oncor beta. If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its date. If a change affects information we already hold, we'll email affected customers first.
